Kinship
Roadshow Film
A promotional film showing the support, advice and community available at the Kinship Roadshow for carers who step up to raise a child.
The brief
Kinship provides vital support to kinship carers—individuals who step up to care for a child when their parents can’t. At the heart of its mission is creating genuine connection through shared lived experience. Its goal is to foster a welcoming, judgement-free space where carers can share their stories, feel heard, and find solidarity with others on a similar journey.
To deepen these connections, it has developed the Kinship Roadshow, UK-wide events co-designed with carers themselves.
The roadshow includes workshops and activities, which enable kinship carers to come together, access meaningful support, and meet others who truly understand. It’s more than an event—it’s a chance to learn, connect, and feel genuinely supported.
The charity asked us to create a film to promote the Kinship Roadshow, emphasising the human impact of its work and the invaluable role of the roadshow in bringing support to life.
The approach
To bring the Kinship roadshow to life we focused on creating a film that feels both deeply personal and broadly resonant.
At the heart of the story is Kieron, the film’s key contributor who, along with his wife Linda, has been a kinship carer to their three grandchildren since 2017. Kieron’s voice offers a warm and honest lens through which the audience experiences the event, and sees its impact.
We set out to capture the genuine warmth of the roadshows - candid interactions, smiling faces, and small moments of shared understanding between carers, convey an unspoken sense of belonging.
To keep the film feeling grounded, diverse, and authentic, we included carefully selected soundbites from a range of attendees, reflecting on their journeys as kinship carers, how the Roadshow made them feel, and the support they've received.
