Five Year Strategy
An animation that brings to life Co-op Foundation’s five year strategy for building communities of the future.
The brief
Co-op Foundation had a strategy plan to be launched. Having previously worked with them on the BTS Strategy Film, this new brief was to bring the visualisation of the strategy to life.
The strategy was based on 6 themes that became the pillars of the funding plan. These themes work independently but also as a whole representing a future community.
The visualisation of the strategy was created by Illustration agency, Pickle, who characterised each theme and created the overall ‘vision’.
We were asked to create an animation style that would bring the ‘vision’ to life, but also add in additional live-action footage that reinforces the human story.
The approach
We worked closely with Pickle to develop an animation style that suited both the vision and the tone of the film.
By developing the script first, we could then map out the journey of the animation, pulling out key messages along the way. It was important not to reveal the whole vision too soon, allowing us to visit each theme before experiencing the full community.
Using live action footage from previous projects with Co-op Foundation, we were able to show a diverse range of communities and also reference back to the young people who helped build the strategy.
We worked with young person Claire who became the voice of the film, guiding the narrative and delivering the call-to-action.
The fun and vibrant theme of both Co-op Foundation’s strategy and the animation was brought to life through a carefully curated mixture of music and sound effects.
